Taskforce for Lung Health elects new Chair
The Taskforce is pleased to announce that Sarah Sleet, Chief Executive of Asthma + Lung UK, has been elected as its new Chair.
Sarah brings over twenty years’ experience in senior leadership roles within the health sector, leading Coeliac UK and Crohn’s & Colitis UK before taking on her A+LUK role. During this time, Sarah has worked collaboratively with patients, healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders to drive meaningful change and ensure that the needs of patients are at the heart of decision making.

Sarah is delighted to be joining the Taskforce as its Chair:
“I am honoured to be elected as the Chair of the Taskforce for Lung Health at such a critical time.
I have seen first-hand the dedication of Taskforce members, working together to set out what quality care looks like, providing evidence for where it is not working, and galvanising everyone working on lung health to speak with one voice to push for change.
Amid ongoing uncertainty about the NHS’s future and the historic under-prioritisation of respiratory health, it is more crucial than ever for the community to unite to improve the lives and outcomes of those living with lung conditions.
Out of all major disease areas, lung conditions are most strongly linked to health inequalities, and we know that those from the poorest communities have the biggest unmet needs. If the Government is going to realise its ambitions to address health inequalities and create a sustainable NHS, it must drive forward meaningful improvements in lung health.
I look forward to working with members to push for real progress – ensuring everyone with a lung condition gets the diagnosis, care and treatment they deserve.”
